Been years since I played but I do remember that was a challenge. Missables in JRPGs are so common they're basically a feature. I backed up my steam saves folder, deleted the original folder, loaded up the complete save file just to activate the "Memory Lane" achievement, then deleted that save file, and put mine back in to finish up the rest of the game by myself.
